Boosting up your sales by 250% or more using testimonials
Posted June 30th, 2007Do you know that testimonials have been known to boost up your sales by 250% or more? Simply said testimonials SELL! The Internet is a very impersonal medium. Believe me or not, people trust people! The more you can do to make more humane to your web site, the more likely the potential customers will want to do business with you. Testimonials help to “speak” to your potential customers in a truthful, believable and credible way.
Imagining that you are buying products on the web, you would certainly like to know whether the web site is secure, is the business reputable and does the product that you are going to buy actually do what they promise.
Customer testimonials can provide the answers to these doubts. The testimonials supposed to build trust and close the sales!
I know another question will come to your mind. How could I possible get testimonials if I will to launch out a new product / service?
One of the simple and straight forward ways is, of course, ask for them! Most of the customers would be happy to assist you. And you’ll feel great when you hear all the positive feedback!
The other way is to give a free trial to an industry expert with a complete knowledge of your field. Ask them to judge your product. You should always get permission to use the testimonial. Having them sign a release form granting their permission.
After getting the testimonials, you should know how to use them effectively. You need to fully identify the quoted person. If possible, use their full name, company name, maybe even country or age! Try to use benefit oriented testimonials (i.e. to mention about the benefit of the product / services) and quantify the benefit. Using numbers help people “measure” the benefit (e.g. The autopilot system has helped me to increase my profits by 50 percent in the first 3 month!)
The testimonials could be grouped on a testimonials page or scattered throughout your website. The testimonials could also be used in various areas (e.g. Email marketing letters, Newsletters, Brochures, etc).
The words from a happy customer are great tools for building trust, promoting your reputation, and increasing sales and profitability! You should start to collect these testimonials and tap into the power of it.

Amazingly simple, yet shockingly powerful ways to guarantee your email are being read
Posted June 30th, 2007Referring to email marketing, it is unlikely to be successful online without some form of marketing via email. You need to know how to make use of your customer list and boost up your business.
You can easily send a mailing in the evening and earn thousand of dollars by the time you wake up in another day through the use of the email marketing.
First, you must develop an attention-grabbing subject line. While it’s one thing to send an email out to your 20,000 prospects; it’s another thing to get any of them to read it. It will depend how well you can craft the “subject” line of your email promotion message.
So, how we could do it? You need to be personal in your email. There is something both attention-grabbing and exciting about seeing your name in the subject line of an email. Normally, we just love to see our own names. The truth is, when we see our name in the subject line, we immediately are drawn to it… (e.g. Gilbert, this is the free e-book that I would like you to have, etc). This could easily down using almost every autoresponder system.
By the way, do not make odd claims like “Earn $50,000 overnight.” If it isn’t believable, then reader will simply delete your email without ever reading it.
Personalization will “typically” means that it is not really SPAM. While some spammers do have access to databases with our names, for the most part their lists are built by harvesting emails.
You should also only send your emails to your target your audience. (e.g. If your audience are interested in reprint rights, you could include title as “New reprint rights released today, Sell this new product and keep every penny and etc”)
The prospects may receive 500 emails a day, but if they are interested in reprint rights (and they would be, or they wouldn’t be on that list) then the particular subject line is going to stand out when you download your emails.”
By combining personalization and targeted audience, then you have a very compelling subject line (e.g. “Gilbert, reprint rights are available!”)
Another key thing to attract the reader to take a look at your message is to use “power” words. It will trigger our emotions and are strong motivators for reader to read furher.
So what do I mean by “Power” word?
A “power” word is a word that appeals to the senses (e.g. Unlimited, guaranteed, step by step, free, new, amazing, exclusive, deadline, first 10, etc). It’s been shown in research that we do not buy based on logic, but rather on emotion. Email marketing works on that same principle.
It will be powerful if you could combine any of the Power words with a deadline.
The next thing is to use promising which is used to present a desirable result. Your subject line must make some kind of promises. In a split second when the reader views the email subject, it must clearly indicate to them that there is something that awaits them if they read your email. It must be something that the reader does not want to miss out on and it must appeal to the emotions as those they were waiting for the climax of a great movie.
Your email subject line should also create expectation. Reader don’t buy products because they want your product… they buy products because they want the result of your product.
Look at the following examples:
1) “Setup your own internet business today…”
2) ” Setup your own internet business in a day”
Both have a power word and fairly interesting. But which one creates expectation? The second one makes a promise. This is one of the biggest keys in email marketing, and yet is often overlooked. You will always have better results with a subject line that creates expectation.
If you can apply these three keys, “Personal, Powerful and Promising” to any form of email marketing you use (e.g. autoresponders, newsletters, joint venture offers), you will be successful.

SIMPLE and yet EASY way to get FREE advertising.
Posted June 30th, 2007Do you know that there are always ways to get free advertising? One of the better ways to get free advertising is simply to writing articles and gives them away. It is one of the marketing strategies that were commonly used in online business. In this way, it will also help to get traffic, improve your search engine ranking, and sell more products.
Why Should You Write Articles?
Newsletter and website owners are desperate for content. They will normally do a regularly search on those relevant articles, looking for quality information that will help their readers. In each article you have written, you could publish them with your information and a link to your website.
Why should you be giving out these articles free?
Let’s imagine, you will normally need to pay to include your ad in a newsletter or popular website. It could be in the range of hundreds. Would it be nice to have your ad placed for free instead? Look at the bottom of this article, you will see some information with my website included, so you have proof that this method do work.
How do you write an article?
The article could be short and simple but with some valuable contents. I am not a Literary Genius either. So, just start to pick up something you know about, or a challenge that you faced, and start writing. Just do it!
What should you include at the end of the article?
Of course, you should include your name. In addition, you should also mention something that is interesting about you or your website, as well as your website link. You could also include some freebie or special offer if you have one. However, do note that this area should not be used to sell any of your products. The aim here is to get the reader to visit your website.

Simple yet effective ways to get your newsletter being read
Posted June 30th, 2007You have taken a great effort to come up with a series of newsletters. However, how do you make sure that your newsletters will be read by your reader? The answer is, you will need to create a professional looking newsletter.
Let’s me share with you some of these quick and easy tips.
Spell Check Your Writing
Before I proceed first, you must keep in mind that you should always have your spell check on your newsletter. This is one of the important fundamental to create a serial of newsletter.
You could easily do that by copying and pasting the text into Microsoft Word and do a quick spell check. Alternatively, you could check your spelling using SpellCheck.net tool, which is a free online spell checker.
Make newsletters readable
Do you know that according to recent research studies, about 50 percent of readers skimmed or partly read the newsletters? Only 23 percent of readers read the newsletters all the way through. The remaining 27 percent were never opened.
As such, we should make sure that the newsletter is more readable. Short paragraphs should be used. Bullet points could also be used to make it more readable. There should be plenty of white spacing between topics. The topics should also be highlighted either with uppercase or bold text in HTML newsletters
Nowadays, most of the internet user uses an 800×600 screen resolution, but the email preview pane is usually much smaller than the full screen. As such, you should format your HTML table widths at 500-600 pixels at the most. It will be much better if you will to use a relative (percentage) width table, which will allow your newsletter to be resized when viewed in different sized windows.
Make your subject field sell!
You should include your newsletter title at the beginning of the subject field. This will help the reader differentiate your newsletter from junk emails. It will also allow them to filter your newsletter into a separate folder with the use of filters.
By including the title is simply not enough at all. You should have an appealing subject title. You literally have seconds to grab the reader attention. So make full use of it.
Avoid using Unsubscribe word and Chain Letter word
Do you know that you should not be using the word such as unsubscribe in your removal notice? A number of spam filters flag emails containing that particular word as possible spam. The reason is many spammers now offer unsubscribe functions that don’t actually do anything.
Some spam filters are flagging emails that asks readers to forward the newsletter on as chain letters.
You should avoid using the word forward and any of the following words in the same sentence, all, anyone, every, friends, many, others, people. Instead of using the words such as forward, you could consider using pass, share, or send.

Internet Marketing for Beginners. Part 1
Posted June 30th, 2007Internet Marketing for Beginners. Part 1
Internet Marketing for beginners is something of an oxymoron. This is because whilst in theory, the concepts relating to Internet Marketing may be quite simple, executing effective Internet Marketing strategies can be extremely difficult.
This can even be tough for those who have some experience in the world of Internet Marketing. With this in mind, this article will try to explain the concept of Internet Marketing for beginners, and will outline some basic strategies which can help a business owner to launch his own Internet Marketing campaign.
We will cover concepts such as creating a website, placing banner ads, sending out e-newsletters or eZines, orchestrating an email marketing campaign and optimizing your website for search engines. This first article in the series, looks at the steps necessary to create a website.
One of the most basic steps for starting an Internet Marketing campaign is to create a website. If you don’t have a website or have a poorly designed website you should consider creating or re-designing a website to adequately market your products.
If you do not have experience in web design, there are a number of software packages which, for those with no design experience, can make web design, and building, more simple, to create a functional website.
Your website should be well designed, and easy to navigate for any visitors. You
can get idea s for your website design by browsing on the internet. Take a look at
other websites which are marketing in the same niche as you are. Pay attention to
the site layout, navigation links, colours used, and also the content of the site.
On most websites that you visit, you will be able to view the page source code.
This is done either by clicking the view tab on your web browser if using mozilla
firefox, Or with internet explorer, click on the page tab. In either case towards the bottom of the menu, is link to view page source.
Studying the source code of a website is a good way to see how a web page has been put together. You can also “tweak” elements within the code to see what effect this has on the finished page.
If using a web design package, you will usually get basic site templates included
with the software. These can be edited to suit the look of the site you are trying to create. You can even save your finished “template” to use again, so that any pages added at a later date, will conform to the template used for the rest of your site.
However, if you find that you are struggling to master creating your site, then hiring a web designer is worthwhile because he can work to create a website to your specifications, which is both attractive, functional and suitable to your products and series. He can also help you include more advanced features on your website.

Google Adsense Policies
Posted June 30th, 2007Google Adsense is a program that allows businesses to advertise on other websites. They business only pays the host website when a consumer clicks on the link to take them to their website. This is a very effective way of advertising because of the millions of people who access the internet every day. It is also a low cost marketing method that businesses of all sizes can benefit from. Websites are eager to host advertisements for other businesses because it doesn’t cost them anything and they earn money for doing it when consumers choose to follow the link from a particular advertisement. If you are interested in using Google Adsense to advertise then you need to make sure you are aware of their policies. This will make the process smoother for you and eliminate any misunderstandings down the road. This can be a great money maker or advertising tool, but only when it is used correctly. There is no long term contract with Google Adsense. You can choose to leave the program at any time. You will need to provide written notice by mail or email to Google. All ads will be removed from your website within ten days. They also have the right to discontinue your business from the program at any time for not following their policies. You do have the right to file an appeal if your account is canceled. This gives you the opportunity to discuss the situation with a Google Adsense representative. You must be approved by Google Adsense before you are allowed to be a part of the program either as a host site for advertisements or to post your ads. The owner of the website must be at least 18 years of age. The approval process involves an application that you complete with information on your website including keywords. You will have a response to your application within two days. Make sure it is completed entirely or your application will be denied. All communications must take place with Google. This means if you have concerns or issues about an advertisement your business has on a website or about an ad you are hosting on your website everything goes through Google. The two businesses are not to discuss the issue between each other. Google does not guarantee a set amount of clicks or earnings for a host website. It also doesn’t guarantee any increase in traffic or sales for a business. Google Adsense has the right to use the name of businesses participating in the program for presentations, marketing, and financial reports. Users of Google Adsense are required to pay for the amount of pay per clicks their ads received as outlined. Adsense accounts are non-transferable under any circumstances. They can’t be resold to another provider. A maximum of three ads per webpage can be displayed. Advertisements can’t be placed on webpages that don’t contain content for your website. A webpage can’t be used for the sole purpose of displaying ads to make money. Click fraud is not acceptable at all by Google Adsense. It damages the reputation of the program and costs the advertisers a great deal of money. Any website hosting advertisements that is believed to be involved in Click Fraud will be banned from using the program. If you chose to use Google Adsense to advertise your business, protect it from Click fraud by purchasing Click Fraud software. Google Adsense is a great opportunity for businesses to advertise their products and services on various websites and pay only for the number of consumers who click on the link to go to that businesses website. It is also a great way for a business to make money by hosting advertisements for other businesses. Understanding the policies of Google Adsense will help you determine if the program is right for you. It also helps the program work properly for all those involved in it.

Start Before You're Ready
Posted June 29th, 2007I do have a (small!) claim to fame in the history of the Internet. In 1991, when I was a software designer for a small company in Perth, we won a contract to build software for an optical fibre undersea cable system between Hong Kong and Taiwan. As part of that project, I spent six weeks in Hong Kong doing the final installation and testing of our system. It was among the most challenging times in my work life (we regularly worked 17-hour days), but was also very rewarding. At the time, the main purpose of the cable was for telephone calls. This was long before most people had heard of the Internet. And even though I was using the Internet myself, I had no idea how important it would become within a decade. — That seems like such a long time ago! — Today, we take it for granted that we can go to a Web site, click a little blue link on a page, and instantly jump to another Web site on the other side of the world. In 1991 - when we were working with much more primitive technology - that was totally unheard of. It was a major achievement for us to just get a single dial-up telephone connection between the monitoring station in Hong Kong and our office in Perth! And although I didn’t know it at the time, our team of software developers was laying the foundations for the Internet technology we take for granted today. And it took an earthquake to emphasise just how important it is. — So what’s the point? — So you don’t think this is just me talking about how I single-handedly invented the Internet - I do have a point! You see, I remember talking to the Hong Kong technicians at the time, and they were telling me about the next cable they would be installing in a few years’ time. It would be faster, cheaper, more reliable - you name it. So … even at the time they were laying that undersea cable, the technology was already superseded. So why did we bother with our slower, more expensive, less reliable system? Because if we had waited for the perfect time, with the perfect technology, we would never had started. And if everybody in the industry had taken that attitude, we wouldn’t have any Internet at all! And that’s the point. — This happens OFTEN (and not just with technology). — Have you ever held back from doing something, waiting for the perfect moment? Sometimes it’s prudent, but more often it’s foolish. There’s never a more perfect moment than NOW. Even if you don’t get the results you expect, you get the experience. So, start before you’re ready. You’ll thank yourself later - whatever the outcome. As a sequel to my story, we did install our system, and it is still working today. More importantly, we won contracts for the more advanced systems as well, because of our proven track record. Find out more at http://gihanperera.com/achieve-your-goals.html

The Ten Secrets For Successful Internet Marketing In the 21st Century
Posted June 29th, 2007Internet research group Netcraft reported that there are now over 100 million Web sites on the Internet. That’s a far cry from the few hundred that were around when I first started using the Web in 1995. In that time, the rules have changed. Things that used to work even a few years ago no longer work now. That’s why I’ve decided to list these “Secrets” for successfully marketing yourself on the Internet now. Secret #1. Friends, not strangers Use the Internet to market to “friends” (existing clients and customers), rather than just looking to get new customers (”strangers”). Secret #2. High margin, not high volume Create product/service bundles that have high value and high profit margins, rather than trying to sell low-margin items to lots of customers. Secret #3. Lead with expertise, not sales People search the Internet looking for information. Give them the information first, before you launch into your sales pitch. Secret #4. Sell on value, not on cost Your customers don’t care how much it costs you to provide your products and services. They care about the value you provide. Secret #5. Generate leads, not sales It’s tempting to think that you can do the entire sales process on your Web site, without any effort on your part. This is possible, but DIFFICULT. Use your Web site to generate a new lead for your business, and then take over to deal with the customer directly to make the sale. Secret #6. Find a market niche, not a wide spread The Web is now much more competitive than ever before. The successful Internet marketers focus on a tightly defined, highly specialised niche market rather than trying to be all things to all people. Secret #7. Build relationships, not transactions All the money is in the customer, not in the first sale. Foster the long-term relationship with your customers, and they’ll keep coming back to you for more. Secret #8. It’s still about people, not computers Regardless of the technology, it’s still about people buying from people. Make sure your Web site and e-mail marketing talk to the person sitting behind the computer. Secret #9. Create intermediation, not transparency There’s so much information out there now that your customers are clamouring for experts to sift through it and deliver it in a way that provides meaning and value. Secret #10. Market offline, not just online The Internet is just another marketing tool. Don’t rely on Internet marketing alone. Combine your on-line marketing with off-line marketing methods as well. OK, that’s it! If you put any of these ideas into practice, I can almost guarantee that you’ll make a significant improvement in your Internet marketing.
